LFH Activities

Since the conception of this all volunteer group (2007) we’ve accomplished many great things for our handicapped and elderly residents within our boundaries.  We’ve consistently been a group of residents that have pulled together and shared responsibilities and lots of fun playing side by side on projects as we’ve built, painted, repaired, caulked, and coerced wood into doing what we’ve wanted it to do, all while trying to provide a safe home for others.  Since most of the volunteers that show up for our work days are seniors ourselves, it has become apparent that in the next few years it will be necessary for us to find younger volunteers to step up and merge among us so we super seniors can stay involved, but get off those ladders and sit back a little. If you or someone you know would enjoy physical exercise that comes with maintaining a house, please let us know.  We are always looking for happy helpful people to join our group.  If you can donate a few hours a month or a year to our cause (like eating donuts & drinking coffee), and can tell a good story or two on yourself, we would love to have you on our team.  No building/maintenance experience necessary.  Please contact Linda Calvert at lcalver1@swbell.net or 214.327.5508.

Friends of Casa Linda Park

Friends of Casa Linda Park, a group dedicated to taking care of the park, works with the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department updating many of the structures at the park; basketball courts, softball field, pavilion, new playground equipment installed in 2013, and pet waste stations installed in 2015.  If you are interested in being a "friend" of the park, please contact Susan Remele at skrem8615@sbcglobal.net for more information.

Funky 4-K Run

Every year in October, our Funky 4-k run starts at Casa Linda Park and winds around the streets in LFH.  There will also be fun activities at the Park for the entire family.  Please contact Denise Davis at denise2389@ gmail.com for more information.

The Little Forest Hills 4th of July Parade is one of the most exciting events of the year for our neighborhood. While it's geared towards kids, we always love to see what goofy outfits and floats the adults will come up with. Contact the parade committee chair if you want to participate or volunteer.  For more info, click here for Parade website:  http://lfh4thofjulyparade.webstarts.com/

Little Forest Hills Animal Alert program was established in our neighborhood to reunite lost area pets with their families. Our Animal Alert mission is to reunite lost pets with their families. In most neighborhoods, when a beloved family pet becomes lost, there is nowhere to turn except to the city pound. Our Animal Alert Volunteers, that live right here in the neighborhood, provides residents the opportunity to get the word out fast when a pet escapes the confines of home. The Animal Alert Hotline is available 24/7, and it is a link between residents in our area who have lost a pet and those who spot a loose animal.

Pet Registration is the first step. Forms are available via email and on the registration page. Pictures will be attached to each form. They can be emailed or sent thru the postal service. The goal is get everyone in Little Forest Hills registered, please spread the word!

It was started by Maeleska Fletes under the guidance of Andi Comini. Andi started the Animal Alert in Forest Hills. Animal Alert is in contact with area neighborhoods and with thier combined effort several dogs have made it home.  Contact Maeleska for more information:  214.930.5910  info@lfhanimalalert.org    Click here for Animal Alert website.

National Night Out

National Night Out is the night of the year (in October) to meet your neighbors and the local police officers & fire fighters who take care of our neighborhoods, and to raise community awareness about crime & safety.

We meet at the Pavilion at Casa Linda Park for free food and drinks. Representatives from the Dallas Police Department (canine, motorcycles and helicopter sections) and the Dallas County Sheriff's Dept. will be there. It’s a great opportunity for residents and first responders to come together to fight crime and celebrate community spirit.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.

  • Generate support for, and participation in, local safety and anti-crime efforts.

  • Strengthen community spirit and police-community partnerships.

  • Send a message to criminals that communities are organized and fighting back.

Starting at 8:00am every 2nd Saturday meet us at FTLOTL office to sign up and collect clean up supplies (trash bags, recycle bags, and gloves).  Grab some complimentary Starbucks coffee, orange juice or chocolate milk, and goodies from Another Broken Egg.  We'll also have plenty of bottled water on hand.  LFH has an assigned area near Lawther and Mockingbird.  For the Love of the Lake (FTLOTL) office is located in the northeast quadrant of the Casa Linda Plaza at the intersection of Garland Road and Buckner Blvd. across the street from Doctors Hospital.

3rd Sunday in May every year

What could be more fun than spending Sunday afternoon in some of the most beautiful gardens in Dallas?  Nine creative gardens in Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills and Casa Linda Estates will be showcased this year, featuring terraced landscaping, peaceful retreats, large organic gardens, water features, lavish outdoor entertaining venues, fun and funky art, and incredible landscaping, trees, and flowers. In addition to dedicated gardeners, these neighborhoods are home to many talented artists who will have their unique creations for sale in the gardens. To volunteer at a garden on the tour, please contact Susan Remele at skrem8615@sbcglobal.net or for more info, click here for website.
