Have Time To Volunteer, But Don’t Know Where?
By Denise Davis
If you have some free time and would like to volunteer, here are a few suggestions:
New Horizons- This is a non-profit, faith based organization to help at-risk kids. They meet Monday-Thursday from 3-5pm at Alex Sanger. If you can volunteer once a week for 2 hours, that can make a huge difference in a child’s life.
Where: Alex Sanger Elementary
Tasks: Help with homework and reading
Website: newhorizonsofntx.org
Dallas Arboretum- What a FUN opportunity to volunteer and close to home! With as little as 160 volunteer hours, you can also get a free Individual membership that is good for two people.
Where: Dallas Arboretum
Tasks: They are always looking for volunteers to help with Festivals (Dallas Blooms is currently underway, see page 5), A Tasteful Place (need food servers), The Children’s Garden (one of my favorites) and the DeGolyer House (one of Max’s favorites).
